What's Biting Me? Free NYC Bite & Pest Identifier

Feeling bites or itching but not sure what’s causing it? Answer a few quick questions and we’ll point you toward the most likely cause — bed bugs, fleas, mites, a medical/skin issue, or a “mystery bite” with no pest at all — and the right next step. Built by Jorge Bedoya, an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE).

Please note: This tool is a general guide, not a medical or pest diagnosis. For any skin or health concern, see a doctor or dermatologist. For a definitive pest identification, get a professional inspection.

The usual suspects

Bed bugs leave clustered bites on skin exposed while you sleep and tiny blood spots on bedding — see bed bug treatment and K-9 inspection. Fleas bite around the ankles and thrive with pets — see flea control. Bird and rat mites bite people after their animal host leaves and need the source removed — see mite control. And when there’s no bug and no evidence at all, it may be a mystery-bite case — which deserves a careful, judgment-free approach.

Still not sure? Let an ACE take a look.

A professional inspection rules pests in or out — same-day across NYC.
