Bronx Pest Control

📍 Serving the entire Bronx · NYSDEC-licensed, led by an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) since 2010

– Serving All Neighborhoods Since 2010

We proudly serve residential, commercial, and institutional clients throughout:

Quick answer: New York Exterminating provides licensed pest control across the entire Bronx — from the dense pre-war buildings of Mott Haven, Concourse, and Fordham to the waterfront communities of City Island, Throgs Neck, and Pelham Bay, and the leafy blocks of Riverdale. We are led by an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) credentialed by the Entomological Society of America, registered with NYSDEC (#15140), and have served the city since 2010. In a borough built on large multifamily and pre-war housing — including NYCHA developments and Co-op City, the largest cooperative housing development in the world — our focus is the pests that thrive in shared buildings: mice and rats, German cockroaches, bed bugs, and the American and Oriental “water bug” roaches that climb up from older basements. Discreet, no-contract, bilingual (English/Spanish), free estimates, and same-day availability. Call (347) 210-4646.

The Bronx Has Pest Challenges Other Boroughs Don’t Face

Most of the Bronx pest problems I am called for trace back to two things you cannot change about the borough: its buildings and its geography. The Bronx holds an enormous share of New York City’s large multifamily housing — sprawling pre-war brick apartment buildings, more public housing than any other borough, and Co-op City, the largest cooperative housing development in the world. In buildings like these, pests are not an apartment problem; they are a building problem. German cockroaches and mice travel between units through shared walls, plumbing chases, and trash rooms, which is why treating a single apartment while the units around it go untouched almost always ends in re-infestation.

Then there is the green. The Bronx has more parkland than any borough in the city — Van Cortlandt Park, Pelham Bay Park, the Bronx River corridor, and the grounds around the Bronx Zoo and New York Botanical Garden. That green belt is part of what makes the borough special, and it is also a year-round reservoir of Norway rats and overwintering insects that press into nearby buildings as the seasons turn. Add the borough’s older housing stock — settled foundations, aging cellars, and decades-old plumbing risers — and you have ideal conditions for rodents and the large “water bug” cockroaches that come up from below. As an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE), my job is to read those building and habitat conditions correctly and treat the source through Integrated Pest Management (IPM), not just the sighting.

Our Bronx Specialties

Rodent control and exclusion. The Bronx’s mix of parkland and aging multifamily buildings makes rodents the borough’s defining pest. Norway rats push in from park edges, vacant lots, and the gaps around old foundations; house mice move through wall voids between apartments. We do not just bait — we find and seal the entry points so they cannot come back, because in a Bronx building, baiting without exclusion just opens the seat for the next mouse. Start with our rodent control and exclusion service, and if you are not sure whether you are seeing a mouse or a young rat, our field guide to NYC mice vs rats walks through it.

German cockroaches in multifamily buildings. In large apartment buildings and public housing, German cockroaches breed inside kitchens and travel between units through shared chases. A surface spray knocks down what you see while the population rebuilds in the harborage within weeks. We reach the harborage directly with an oil-based pyrethrin microinjection paired with a triple-active growth regulator (Tekko Trio) that disrupts reproduction, and we coordinate building-wide where the spread calls for it. See our German cockroach service and how the three NYC cockroach species differ.

Bed bugs. Bed bugs spread along the same shared pathways as everything else in a multifamily building, so discretion and a building-aware plan matter. We confirm with targeted bed bug treatment, and we document the work for managing agents and boards. Wondering what treatment runs in this market? See our NYC bed bug cost guide.

American and Oriental “water bugs.” The large roaches Bronx tenants call water bugs usually come up from the basement through plumbing risers and floor drains — especially in older and waterfront buildings near City Island, Throgs Neck, and Soundview. Killing the one you saw does nothing about the pathway, so we focus on cockroach control, exclusion, and moisture. Here is why your “water bug” is really a cockroach.

Ants and seasonal park invaders. Properties bordering Van Cortlandt, Pelham Bay, and Bronx Park see seasonal pushes of ants and overwintering insects from the green belt. We identify the species and treat the pathway in with our ant control service.

Bronx Pest Control FAQs

Do you serve all Bronx neighborhoods?

Yes — the entire borough, from the South Bronx (Mott Haven, Hunts Point, Concourse) through the central neighborhoods (Fordham, Belmont, Parkchester) to the East Bronx and waterfront (Castle Hill, Throgs Neck, City Island, Co-op City) and the northwest (Kingsbridge, Riverdale). Pick your neighborhood above for local detail, or call (347) 210-4646.

Can you coordinate with NYCHA or affordable-housing management?

Yes. We work regularly with public-housing and affordable-housing management, supers, and managing agents — scheduling around access, using low-exposure approaches appropriate around families and children, and providing the documentation buildings need for their records and work orders.

What about properties near parks with wildlife?

The Bronx’s parkland is a constant source of rodent pressure, and buildings along Van Cortlandt, Pelham Bay, and the Bronx River feel it most. We focus on exclusion — sealing the routes pests use to get in from the green belt — rather than only treating indoors, because the supply outside never stops. For wildlife beyond insects and rodents, we will point you to the right licensed help.

How do you handle older buildings with structural issues?

Older Bronx buildings come with settled foundations, gaps around aging plumbing risers, and cellar entry points — the exact routes mice, rats, and “water bug” roaches use. As an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE), I inspect for those pathways, seal what we can, and flag the structural repairs for building management so the fix actually holds.

Can you treat just one unit in a large building?

We can, and sometimes that is the right call. But for German cockroaches, bed bugs, and mice in a large building, treating one unit while the neighbors are infested usually leads to re-introduction through shared walls and chases. We will treat your unit and tell you honestly when a building-wide approach is what will actually hold.

How fast can you respond to emergencies?

We offer same-day and emergency pest control across the Bronx. Call (347) 210-4646 and we will schedule the soonest available visit, prioritizing urgent situations.
