Por eso rociarlas no funciona: mata unas pocas mientras el nido sigue creciendo. La clave es identificar la especie correctamente y tratar en el origen. Identificamos la especie (no todas se tratan igual), seguimos el rastro hasta el nido y usamos cebos que las obreras llevan a la colonia, además de corregir la humedad y los puntos de entrada. Las hormigas carpinteras son un caso aparte porque dañan la madera — vea carpenter ant control y el servicio general en inglés: ant control.
A diferencia de las hormigas comunes, las carpinteras excavan la madera para anidar y pueden causar daños con el tiempo. Si ve hormigas grandes y oscuras o aserrín fino, conviene una inspección pronto.
