Termite Treatment NYC – 24/7 Termite Inspection & Exterminator Near You

New York Exterminating provides termite treatment and inspection across NYC for houses, brownstones, mixed-use buildings, co-ops, condos, multi-unit housing, and commercial property. If you are searching for a termite exterminator near you or a WDI inspection in New York City, here is the most important thing to understand:

Termites work silently, for years, before you ever see them. By the time you notice damage, a colony has usually been feeding inside your structure for a long time. That is why spot-spraying what you can see does not protect a building. Real termite control is built around full inspection, a continuous treatment zone, and ongoing monitoring.

New York Exterminating is led by an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE), credentialed by the Entomological Society of America and licensed in structural and food-establishment pest control. Your inspection is performed by someone trained to confirm termite activity and tell it apart from the look-alikes that fool generalists.

We offer free inspections and free quotes. Call +1 (347) 210-4646 or request service online. Open 24/7. Same-day response may be available. Se habla español.

Termite Control – Quick Answers

Are you open now for termite service?

Yes. We provide 24/7 service in NYC, including urgent response when you find active termites or fresh swarmers.

Do you offer free termite inspections?

Yes. Every termite job begins with a free, no-obligation inspection. You only pay once you approve a treatment plan.

Can you document it for a sale?

Yes. We provide wood-destroying insect (WDI) reports for closings, lenders, and co-op boards.

Termites vs. Carpenter Ants vs. Flying Ants – How to Tell

Three things people confuse, and each points to a different problem and a different fix:

  • Termites: they eat wood and pack their galleries with mud, build pencil-width mud tubes on foundations, and their swarmers have straight antennae, a uniform waist, and two pairs of equal-length wings.
  • Carpenter ants: they excavate wood but do not eat it, leaving clean galleries and coarse, sawdust-like frass. They signal a moisture problem and need a different treatment, see our carpenter ant service.
  • Flying ants (swarmers): bent antennae, a pinched waist, and front wings longer than the back. Easy to mistake for termite swarmers, but a completely different response.

If you find pencil-width mud tubes or discarded wings on a windowsill, those point to termites. Send us a photo and we will confirm it for free.

Why Termite Damage Is So Easy to Miss

Termites do not chew from the outside in. They tunnel through the interior of wood, following the grain, and leave a paper-thin surface intact, so a beam can look perfectly sound and be hollow behind it. They also work where you rarely look: crawl spaces, sill plates, the back of finished basement walls, and the soil-contact points under your foundation. That is exactly why a reactive approach fails and why protecting a building means treating the structure as a whole.

Why NYC-Area Properties Are at Risk

Brownstones and row houses, the wood-frame homes of the outer boroughs, and the houses of Long Island, Westchester, and northern New Jersey all offer the cellulose termites feed on, often in direct or near-direct soil contact. Decades-old foundations develop cracks and gaps that give subterranean termites a hidden path indoors, and damp basements, poor grading, and clogged gutters create the humidity termites need. Because termites are silent, most owners only call after visible damage; annual inspections change that.

Our Termite Treatment & Inspection Process

Step 1: Comprehensive Inspection

A licensed professional inspects the structure as a system, foundation and sill plates, crawl spaces and basements, wood-to-soil contact points, and moisture conditions, to map the species, the activity, the entry routes, and the conditions feeding the problem.

Step 2: Species & Severity Identification

We confirm the termite type and the extent of activity, because the species and the building determine the right treatment, the priority areas, and the realistic timeline.

Step 3: Liquid Barrier Treatment

Where appropriate, we apply a non-repellent liquid termiticide to create a continuous treated zone around the foundation that termites cannot detect, pass through, and transfer through the colony, eliminating it at the source.

Step 4: Bait Stations, Monitoring & Documentation

We install in-ground bait stations for low-disturbance colony elimination and ongoing monitoring, then return to confirm activity has stopped and provide documentation for your records, lender, or board.

Signs You May Have Termites

  • Pencil-width mud tubes on foundations, walls, or crawl-space piers
  • Swarmers or small discarded wings near windows, doors, or light sources
  • Hollow-sounding or papery wood when tapped
  • Blistered or sagging paint, flooring, or drywall
  • Tight-fitting doors or windows from termite moisture

Property Risks & Authoritative Guidance

Termites are the most costly wood-destroying pest in the country, causing billions in damage each year, the vast majority of it not covered by standard homeowners insurance. Early detection and professional treatment are the only reliable protection.

Termite Treatment FAQs

Are subterranean termites really a problem in NYC?

Yes, more than most people expect. Subterranean termites are active across the NYC metro, and they are the primary termite threat to wood-frame homes in the outer boroughs, Long Island, Westchester, and northern New Jersey, as well as to brownstones and any structure with wood in contact with soil. Annual inspections are recommended for all wood-frame buildings.

How much does termite treatment cost in NYC?

It depends on the construction type, the size of the structure, the species, and whether you need a liquid barrier, a bait-station system, or both. Because termite work protects the structure itself, it is priced per property after inspection. We provide a free inspection and a clear written quote before any work begins.

Is a liquid barrier or a bait-station system better?

Both work; the right choice depends on your building. Liquid barriers create a continuous treated zone around the foundation and act fast, ideal when there is active infestation to stop now. Bait systems are low-disturbance and excellent for ongoing monitoring and colony elimination. Many properties are best served by a combination.

Can termites come back after treatment?

Termites are persistent, which is why we do not stop at a single treatment. We install monitoring, recommend moisture and entry-point corrections, and offer ongoing inspections so a new colony is caught early, long before it can damage the structure.

Is termite damage covered by homeowners insurance?

Almost never. Standard homeowners policies treat termite damage as preventable, which is why proactive inspection and treatment are the only reliable protection, and far cheaper than the repairs.

Do you provide termite inspections for a home sale or closing?

Yes. We perform wood-destroying insect inspections and provide documentation for closings, lenders, co-op boards, and property managers across the NYC metro. See our WDO inspection service for the formal report.
